Senior SQL Server DBA
Remote
6 Month Contract to Hire
Must-Have Skills (Core Requirements)
15+ years of SQL Server DBA experience
Strong experience supporting on-prem SQL Server environments
Experience with Azure DevOps (SQL-related support, pipelines, deployments)
SQL Server Upgrades & Migrations (especially to SQL Server 2022)
Heavy Replication (must be expert-level)
Performance Tuning & Optimization (queries, indexes, stored procedures)
Installation & configuration of SQL Monitoring Tools
Stored Procedure Updates and SQL scripting
ServiceNow (SNOW) ticket handling
On-call rotation every 3rd week (24/7 availability mindset)
Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds (preferred)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Database Administration
Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot SQL Server databases
Manage database replication, indexing, performance bottlenecks
Handle SQL upgrades, service packs, patching, and security
Create & maintain backups, disaster recovery plans, and capacity planning
Support SQL environments for high-availability, mission-critical systems
Production Support
Provide 24 7 production support (during on-call rotation)
Perform root-cause analysis and production issue resolution
Support SQL 2019/2022 environments and future upgrades
Development Support
Assist application teams with database design and performance
Provide physical & logical data modeling guidance
Review new database components and support deployments
Soft Skills & Work Style
Ability to work in a fast-paced, urgent, high-accountability environment
Strong communication skills (must interact with dev teams and leadership)
Proactive, ownership-driven, able to work independently in a small team
Comfortable being challenged by senior technical peers
