Sr Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: NY/NJ
Experience Required: 10+
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Oracle DBA to install, configure, maintain, and monitor Oracle database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure the security, availability, and performance of the databases, and will be responsible for backups, disaster recovery, and tuning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c/21c)

  • Monitor database performance and optimize SQL queries

  • Perform regular backup and recovery operations using RMAN

  • Manage database users, roles, privileges, and security policies

  • Implement and monitor data replication and high availability setups (e.g., Data Guard, RAC)

  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and resolve performance bottlenecks

  • Automate routine database tasks using shell scripts or PL/SQL

  • Collaborate with developers, sysadmins, and application teams

  • Apply Oracle patches, security updates, and test thoroughly before production rollout

  • Maintain documentation of architecture, processes, and best practices

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s in Computer Science, IT, or a related field

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database Administration

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle DB architecture, SQL, PL/SQL, RMAN, OEM, and Data Guard

  • Experience with Linux/Unix OS for Oracle database support

  • Proficiency in Oracle backup/recovery, performance tuning, and space management

  • Experience with tools like OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager)

  • Understanding of networking, security policies, and user access controls

  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, AWS RDS, Azure DB) is a plus
