Overview

Vaco is seeking an experience Infrastructure Platform Engineer that has prior experience working in the MSP Space, in client facing capacities.  This role will be a new addition to a growing team that monitors, configures, and supports cloud-based infrastructure in the client’s environment, to include, Server, Network, Backup, Storage, Virtualization Services, Data Protections, and other automation solutions. This role will work in a fully remote capacity, in which the ideal candidate will be autonomous, customer-oriented, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.  Candidates must also be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen and must be legally eligible to work in the United States, as our client is unable to sponsor at this time. 

Job Scope:
  • Integrate customer IT systems—such as networks, servers, storage platforms, backup solutions, data protection tools, and hyperconverged technologies—into monitoring infrastructure.
  • Communicate directly with clients to assess issues and changes and discuss improvements to the clients IT landscape.   This includes providing consultative reports outlining the clients cloud-based IT infrastructure landscape and developing automated solutions that will aid in monitoring and support.
  • Monitor and verify infrastructure stability and performance, ensuring systems align with best-practice configuration standards.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor and assist with escalated issues related to monitoring within the service delivery team.
  • Draft and maintain detailed technical documentation for client environments and procedures.

Must Have Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a comparable field, or equivalent professional experience and credentials.
  • 3+ years of experience working within client-facing or consulting capacities within the MSP – Managed Services Provider, IT service providers, or consulting of IT services.
  • Comfortable communicating with stakeholders via email, calls, or face-to-face interactions, along with strong experience in creating technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with a customer-first mindset, ensuring high satisfaction through effective service delivery.
  • Outstanding communication skills—both spoken and written—with a proven ability to work well across various organizational levels.
  • The ability to work independently (self-driven), or within collaboratively within a team environment to navigate tasks and respond quickly to shifting priorities under pressure.
  • Able to juggle multiple initiatives.
  • Brings a proactive mindset and a sense of urgency to resolving technical challenges and improving systems.

Technical Requirements:
 
  • 8+ years of experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise-level Windows and/or Linux environments – Systems Administration.
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure support services dealing with DNS, DHCP Active Directory, and certificate-based authentication.
  • 5+ years of experience in working with and providing support of TCP/IP protocols and applications.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting cloud migrations, cloud identity, and cloud networking solutions.
  • 3+ years’ experience in supporting Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for enterprise-level organizations.  This includes Google GCP native services such as Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Build, Cloud Trace, Cloud VNP, and App Engine (serverless platform for developing and hosting web applications), and preferably working with Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
  • 3+ years’ experience in Infrastructure as a Code (IaC) services, working with Azure Resource Manager and Terraform Templates, as well as Google Cloud Deployment Manager, and/or AWS CloudFormation.
  • 5+ years’ experience in automation services, working with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Bash.
  • 3+ years experience in working with tools and solutions for managing and overseeing cost, security, and compliance in Public Cloud, working with tools such as Cloud Health, CloudCheckr, Cloud Prisma, Cloudability, and/or CloudGuard Dome9.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with DevOps technologies and environments, establishing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, and working with containerization technologies and orchestration working with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience working with ticketing systems for incident and change management, while adhering to strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Strong experience supporting and working with distributed systems.
  • Prior experience working with clients that are seeking to scale their IT technology landscape, and offering guidance on technologies and IT solutions.

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience working within AWS or Azure Cloud Services a plus
  • Cloud certifications:  Google Cloud Professional Architect, AWS Certified Solution Architect, or similar.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
  • Prior experience with relational database technologies, both relational database management systems (SWL Server, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, etc.) and NoSQL databases such as (MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase, DynamoDB, Redis, etc.).
  • Prior experience working with system performance and monitoring platforms such as LogicMonitor, Elastic, SolarWinds, ElastiFlow, ServiceNow IT Operations Management (ITOM), ServiceNow Management, Instrumentation, and Discovery Service (MID Server), or BeyondTrust.
