Role: Security Engineer / Architect
Location: Austin, TX 78746 zip code (Hybrid role, 3 days a week in the office; Tues - Wed - Thurs in the office)
Pay Rate: Targeting between $55 to $60 hourly on w/2 (When converted to fulltime, salary is between $105K to $115K)
Duration: Six month contract to hire

My client is expanding its Cybersecurity & Architecture team and seeking a security architect with expertise in Azure, Zero Trust Architecture, and enterprise security. The role involves designing security frameworks, performing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with security policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct security architecture assessments for applications and infrastructure
- Develop and maintain security guidelines, artifacts, and best practices
- Perform security risk assessments for internal applications and new technologies
- Implement and maintain Zero Trust Architecture principles
- Evaluate Azure Governance & Policies to ensure compliance
- Assess virtual networks for internet exposure and security risks
- Manage and configure firewalls, IPS, Zscaler, and Netskope
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve security posture
Experience:
- 2-4 years in security architecture
- 6-10 years in IT security, networking, or system administration
- Background in cybersecurity, network administration, or Linux administration
- Experience transitioning from Administrator Engineer Architect
- Cloud: Azure (Governance, Policies)
- Networking: Cisco, Linux, Windows
- Security Tools: Netskope, Zscaler, Firewalls, IPS
- DevOps: Azure DevOps
- CISSP
- Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or equivalent security certifications
- Business Challenges:
- Complex security landscape within Farm Credit System (Federal perspective)
- 3-5 months expected ramp-up time
