What We Offer
As a Supply Chain Specialist, you will develop and implement standards to drive logistics assets and process optimization across the Baytown Site. The Supply Chain Specialist is a member of the Baytown Supply Chain and Logistics team, which is part of the Supply Chain & Logistics (SC&L) North America. A key goal of the group is to ensure continuous improvement in supply chain processes, supply-chain talent management, knowledge management, and to sustain past improvements. The geographical scope is the US, Canada, and Mexico albeit with some leadership or participation in global cross-functional teams.
The incumbent of this position is responsible for managing and executing a portfolio of supply-chain improvement projects working closely with CA, PCS, MR and TDI BEs to optimize cost, service and risk.
Main Responsibilities
Manage project portfolio of all projects and initiatives in the area of site logistics, logistics purchasing and transport management (Integrated Logistics) in Europe to drive optimization efforts holistically
Develop and implement standards and sustainable strategies in the area of integrated logistics in close cooperation with the Integrated Logistics department
Identify optimization potential (regarding quality, efficiency and costs) in the area of integrated logistics at the Baytown site, e.g. by use of synergy effects or new technologies of automation and digitization
Develop and implement an early warning system to identify bottlenecks in material flow and critical logistic infrastructure based on the analysis of the company's volume growth strategy
Coordinate and lead logistic investment projects to further improve efficiency and effectiveness within Supply Chain and Logistics
Develop excellence functions for transport modes truck, rail and ship
Develop and support logistics strategy by aligning with business entities and customer requirements; establish and implement supporting logistics policies and procedures for Site Logistics.
Ensure full compliance with environmental, safety, and distribution regulations in accordance with government and Covestro policies through proactive training and oversight.
Analyze performance metrics for continuous improvements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering with at least 10 years of experience (or MA/MS/MBA with 7 years of experience) in positions of increasing responsibility in transportation and logistics.
The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. If not certified, you must complete the certification in the first year on the job.
Experience in lean manufacturing management
Knowledge & Skills:
Knowledge of distribution safety, Core Processes and regulatory requirements associated with logistics-Understanding of compliance and security requirements
Experience with using SAP ERP software and Business Warehouse.
Skilled in change management.
