Description
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Digital Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep expertise in Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, and DoD Acquisition to lead transformative initiatives in major DoD programs. You are a strategic thinker (PhD preferred) with a proven track record in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), semantic ontology-based data fabrics, digital twins, digital threads, and authoritative sources of truth (ASoT). You thrive in agile environments and while coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions and actionable recommendations. Your leadership will drive digitalization, interoperability, and governance, ensuring alignment with DoD standards and mission objectives. A minimum of an active Department of Defense Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred) is necessary for this position.

Lead development of a semantic-ontology- based data fabric by orchestrating the integration of disparate data sources across a DoD acquisition program to enable seamless, context -aware data sharing and interoperability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define formal ontologies, leveraging SPARQL for query federation when applicable.
Oversee the architectural design of the data fabric, incorporating sematic layers and guiding agile sprints to prototype and test functionality.
Advise on federating subsystem models into a comprehensive digital twin using MBSE and Modeling and Simulation (M&S) to support mission-level operations, testing, and validation.
Advise on establishing traceable, end-to-end digital threads across the product lifecycle integrating requirements, design, manufacturing, and sustainment phases to enhance decision making and efficiency.
Coordinate with the Atlassian development team and the Artificial Intelligence team SMEs to maintain a trusted, Authoritative Source of Truth (ASoT) ensuring data accuracy, governance, and alignment with DoD standards.
Evaluate Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) workflows for logicality and adherence to the ASoT, digital twin and/or thread.
Participate in West Coast time zone government coordination meetings as required.
Conduct occasional domestic travel (estimated 10%) and perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years as a practitioner serving as a Chief Engineer (CE) or directly supporting a CE in a major DoD acquisition program with a deep pedigree in digital data objects, their atomicity, and their governance at the enterprise level.
At least 10 years of Systems Engineering experience, specializing in Digital Engineering and Acquisition, encompassing conceptual development, requirements analysis, design, implementation, configuration management, interface management, and lifecycle support, with a proven track record leading U.S. and international projects. Candidates should demonstrate experience with Modeling and Simulation (M&S) through federation of system, subsystems, and component levels that inform and bound mission level, operation test and validation, and training scenarios.
A minimum of 10 years of experience evaluating ECPs for baselined requirements and assessing GOTS and COTS providing actionable recommendations to senior decision-makers.
A minimum of 5 years of experience developing, reviewing, and presenting MBSE artifacts, collaborating with engineering, finance, contracting, and logistics teams.
A minimum of 2 years developing, reviewing, and presenting DoDAF and UAF artifacts highlighting experience apply UAF in DoD programs.
At least 3 years of experience working in agile environments as a practitioner.
Expertise in the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle Process and program/project management.
Proficiency in engineering governance process improvement and enterprise IT implementation harmonization.
Knowledge of secure hardware and software lifecycle management, from inception to technical obsolescence.
Advanced skills in Human Interface Integration, Digital Engineering, Acquisition, Product Line Engineering (PLE), Product Data Management (PDM), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), Information Assurance, Data Analytics, and DevSecOps.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72.11 - $103.37/hr.
