Position Overview: Principle Platform Engineer

Skilled Platform Engineer to support and evolve the full stack of KRADOS' infrastructure and applications. This role focuses on building and maintaining the internal platforms, automation, and tooling that underpin KRADOS' development and operations environments.

You will be responsible for managing infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD workflows, secrets management, and deployment automation; enabling development teams to operate efficiently, securely, and at scale. You will work closely with the mission app teams and support teams (e.g., SRE, Testing) to deliver a reliable and consistent platform experience across environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and support internal platform services for provisioning, configuration, and deployment across KRADOS' environments.
  • Own and manage Kubernetes-based platforms, including Helm chart lifecycle management and integration with ArgoCD for GitOps workflows.
  • Build infrastructure automation using tools like Terraform to ensure consistent provisioning of cloud and on-prem resources.
  • Manage and evolve CI/CD systems, focusing on deployment standardization, observability, and integration with platform tools.
  • Implement and maintain secrets management practices using tools like Vault across environments.
  • Develop self-service tooling to enable development teams to manage application deployments and configurations.
  • Partner with teams to implement platform observability and system monitoring using tools such as ELK and Prometheus.
  • Contribute to platform documentation, knowledge sharing, and developer onboarding for platform tooling.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, including experience with Helm and managing Helm charts at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with ArgoCD and GitOps-based deployment workflows.
  • Experience with Vault for secure secrets management.
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
  • Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., ELK stack, Prometheus). Elastic experience is a plus.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Must have or be able to obtain SEC+ certification within three months of hire.
  • Must be local to Langley AFB or Hanscom AFB, and willing to travel on site as needed, not more than three days a week.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and managing hybrid environments.
  • Experience with DoD networks, specifically IL4-IL6.
  • Experience with service mesh tools, policy enforcement (OPA, Kyverno), or workload identity/authentication.
  • Experience with managing PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other data stores in infrastructure/platform contexts.
  • Experience with support message brokers (e.g., RabbitMQ).
  • Understanding of platform design patterns, internal developer platforms, and platform-as-a-product concepts.
  • Comfortable working in secure, compliance-focused environments (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD, or similar frameworks).
