Systems Engineer- SSO/ Authentication

We have a fantastic opportunity in San Antonio, TX for a Systems Engineer who specializes in SSO/ Authentication and would consider themselves a subject matter expert in this area of technology. This is contract to hire however our client would consider direct hire as well. This role is also a hybrid position and will require onsite visibility.

• Plan, design, provision, maintain Single Sign-On solutions across the organization, identify integrations with internal systems, and onboard new applications using SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and other authentication protocols
• Provide support coverage for escalated Windows server and identity-related issues; assist team members as needed to ensure service continuity and resolution of complex incidents
• Manage the lifecycle of SSO and Windows server projects from design and implementation to configuration, testing, documentation, and support, ensuring they meet security and compliance standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex authentication and authorization issues, including token flows, claims mapping, and login errors; escalate as needed to maintain service availability.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and procedures for SSO onboarding, troubleshooting, and Windows Server operations to support ongoing administration
• Design and evaluate solutions to enhance Windows servers and related infrastructure across the organization. Make recommendations to management and implement enhancement solutions
• Collaborate with application owners, security teams, and both technical and non-technical stakeholders to design and implement SSO and identity integrations to ensure security, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
• Perform routine maintenance, conformance checks, and capacity validations to ensure Windows servers are up to date, secure, and in compliance with Frost standards

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience

Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues across interrelated programs and systems and develop the appropriate solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 5+ years of experience

Subject matter expert with regards to SSO, Authentication, Tokens in a hybrid onprem/ cloud environment.

Self starter, collaborator, exceptional communication skills

Proven ability to apply engineering principals to effectively resolve moderately complex authentication issues within Infrastructure and Operations

Demonstrated commitment to strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in collaborative project environments

Knowledge of Infrastructure & Operations platforms such as server, storage, authentication, encryption and/or backups

Relevant scripting or automation skills, such as PowerShell or Python

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience in Microsoft Office applications
