Role: Infra Automation Developer Lead Database SME
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
Contract: Long Term

Role Overview:

We are hiring a Database SME to join our Infra Automation team as a technical lead with deep expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud-managed database services (AWS RDS and/or multi-cloud platforms). This role involves designing robust, scalable database solutions that enable and support infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and application deployments.

The ideal candidate will work closely with automation developers, testers, and architects to define and implement database standards, automate database operations, and guide cloud-native database architecture as part of a high-performing automation team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and optimize cloud-native database solutions across AWS RDS, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other supported databases.
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to automate database provisioning, backup, failover, and patching through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scripting.
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to development and QA teams on database performance, structure, and integration.
  • Implement and enforce database standards, security policies, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Support and troubleshoot complex SQL issues, schema changes, replication, and migration tasks in cloud environments.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools for automated database testing, monitoring, and change management.
  • Work as part of a cross-functional automation team, contributing to CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment with industry standards, SDLC practices, and internal compliance frameworks.

Required Experience:

  • 6 10 years of experience in database design, administration, and automation in SQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS (and optionally Azure/Google Cloud Platform DB services) for provisioning, backup, scaling, and failover automation.
  • Experience supporting multi-cloud or hybrid cloud database environments is a strong plus.
  • Familiar with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting (Python, Shell) for database automation.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, DevOps, and integrating databases into the automation lifecycle.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with database tuning, schema management, and data integrity enforcement.
  • Ability to work closely with developers, testers, and platform engineers to deliver database-backed automation solutions.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and team collaboration skills.
