Workday HCM Configuration Consultant

Location: Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 12 Months (Full-Time)
Type: Contract

Overview
The Workday HCM Configuration Consultant will support configuration and testing activities as part of a Workday optimization initiative. The consultant will partner closely with the Workday Security Architect to align HCM configurations, business processes, and data access with the redesigned security framework. The role requires a strong understanding of how Workday security intersects with Core HCM to ensure sustainable, compliant, and scalable configurations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and optimize Core HCM elements such as supervisory organizations, positions, and staffing models.
  • Align business process design with revised security architecture and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with the Security Architect to test and validate access, approvals, and roles across key HCM transactions.
  • Provide guidance on Workday configuration and security best practices to ensure long-term maintainability.
  • Support testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of process and access changes.
  • Update calculated fields, condition rules, and reports with awareness of data security and access implications.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and enablement of internal HRIS and functional teams.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of Workday configuration experience in Core HCM and Business Process Design.
  • Working knowledge of Workday security (domain and business process) and its relationship to configuration.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to troubleshoot configuration and access issues collaboratively.
  • Experience partnering directly with HR, IT, and Security teams in customer environments.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Preferred: Workday Pro HCM or Security certification.
