Job Title: Histology Associate 1st or 2nd Shift

12+ Months Contract

Job Summary

The Histology Associate supports RTD histology laboratories by performing foundational histotechniques, ensuring high-quality laboratory processes, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires adherence to SOPs and participation in continuous improvement initiatives, with availability for weekends, holidays, and exceptional conditions.

Key Responsibilities

Histotechniques (Tissue Sectioning & Staining)

  • Perform foundational histotechniques including embedding, microtomy, cover slipping, processing, and primary staining.
  • Operate laboratory or manufacturing equipment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures with detailed direction.
  • Monitor and prepare bulk reagents.
  • Assist in preparation work for moderately complex techniques under senior guidance.

Quality & Safety

  • Maintain Right to Operate and follow all safety protocols.
  • Identify, address, and escalate safety hazards; report incidents promptly.
  • Perform tasks in compliance with OSHA, NMPA, FDA, QSR, ISO, GMP, and company policies.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and material handling.
  • Escalate minor issues with raw materials, equipment, and lab safety.
  • Maintain at least 95% training compliance.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in 6S activities and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate daily records.
  • Engage in team/tier meetings and contribute improvement ideas.

Teamwork & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with peers and other functions to meet targets.
  • Suggest improvements for processes and equipment.

Other

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year directly related histology experience.
  • Proficiency in embedding, microtomy, covers lipping, processing, and primary staining.
  • Experience operating laboratory or manufacturing equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and follow Operating Procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing and laboratory techniques.
  • Skilled in word processing, email, and Google Suite tools.
  • Experience with SAP (required).
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, planning, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work accurately in a high-volume environment.
  • Time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use precision tools and industry-specific technology.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch for extended periods, lift 25+ lbs, and perform repetitive hand movements.
  • Good near visual acuity for detailed work.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Extended standing, walking, and manual dexterity required.
  • PPE must be worn as required.
