Role and Responsibilities

Samsung Electronics America (SEA) is seeking an experienced Network Engineer/SIT Lab OS Administrator to deploy 4G and 5G networks in core and ran locations. The incumbent will build out lab system networks, test beds, and server platforms end to end, while maintaining current systems and overall lab networks. The Networks Engineer will support Firewalls, VPN connections, and customer facing platforms maintenance and management.

  • Responsible for software and hardware management of lab networks with main equipment room and test areas.
  • Promote standard test and troubleshooting methodologies for use throughout the labs/teams.
  • Develop in depth understanding of network infrastructure and Samsung products from customer operational perspective to design and implement customer networks for the lab mirror systems in the lab.
  • Stay informed on the latest test tools, techniques, trends and methodologies and critically adopt them, when appropriate or necessary.
  • Responsible for planning, processing and performing all given tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Gather specifications of products and understand the test scope, schedule, effort, resources, and the execution plan.
  • Correctly translate requirements to set up test designs/cases, while focusing on improvements to test cases and procedures.
  • Manage issues and follow up with issue status to ensure all issues are fixed in the lab or field.
  • Detect critical issues in a timely manner to increase Samsung quality and stability in a rapidly progressing industry.
  • Provide general administrative support to the organization.
  • Provide recommendations to management concerning issues detected.
  • Perform installations end to end for lab and field.
  • Perform test verification and failure resolution on a variety of products.

Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Prefer Bachelor's degree in an engineering field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Technologies, and/or Electrical Engineering.
  • Requires a CCNA and prefer a CCDA, CCNP.
  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in wireless telecommunications industry.
  • Experience working with multiple agile teams both onsite and offsite simultaneously.
  • Strong working knowledge with system server OS, SW install/configuration, network configuration, network testing fundamentals physical and logical, knowledge of basic installation, electrical AC/DC power, and SW/HW/performance testing in wireless telecom will be required.
  • Strong and effective interdepartmental communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of client and staff.
  • Ability to work and interact with a diverse cultural index internally and at customer premises.
  • Ability to work additional hours beyond normal schedule.
  • Able to travel for business trips for short term projects (varying from 1 day to 2 weeks).
  • Work is generally performed in an office desk or lab environment but can be outdoors as well on roof tops and standard building structures, must be comfortable working in these conditions.
  • Requires considerable movement and transportation of equipment or samples with a high security mentality.
  • Perform work under time schedules which are normally periodic or cyclical and include: time sensitive job stress, fatigue, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and product management stress.
