Job Title: Cloud Engineering Lead / Architect
Location: New York / New Jersey (On-site/Hybrid options may be discussed)
Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of Extension)

About the Role

We re seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineering Lead / Architect with deep expertise in Azure Cloud and Kubernetes to lead cloud-native solution design, database migration, and cost-optimization initiatives. This role will play a pivotal part in driving modern cloud transformations and improving scalability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement cloud-native database solutions using Azure SQL Hyperscale and Managed Instance.
Lead migration from Oracle on-prem to Azure SQL with minimal downtime.
Architect and optimize AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) clusters for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Implement serverless architectures with Azure Functions, integrating with containerized workloads.
Drive FinOps and cost optimization strategies, including autoscaling and spot instance utilization.
Troubleshoot and resolve AKS and storage-related issues across control plane, node pools, and networking.
Guide development teams on Kubernetes best practices Helm charts, RBAC, HPA, Secrets/ConfigMaps, StatefulSets.
Provide technical guidance on Azure SQL Hyperscale vs. Managed Instance for performance and scalability decisions.
Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads.

Required Skills & Experience

Proven hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services (AKS, Azure SQL, Azure Functions).
Strong proficiency in Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Solid experience in database migration (Oracle Azure SQL).
Deep understanding of AKS troubleshooting, node pool management, and storage optimization.
Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines for cloud workloads.
Knowledge of FinOps practices and cost governance in cloud environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to guide developers and cross-functional teams.
