Job Title: Cloud Engineering Lead / Architect
Location: New York / New Jersey (On-site/Hybrid options may be discussed)
Duration: 6 Months (Possibility of Extension)

About the Role

We re seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineering Lead / Architect with deep expertise in Azure Cloud and Kubernetes to lead cloud-native solution design, database migration, and cost-optimization initiatives. This role will play a pivotal part in driving modern cloud transformations and improving scalability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud-native database solutions using Azure SQL Hyperscale and Managed Instance.

  • Lead migration from Oracle on-prem to Azure SQL with minimal downtime.

  • Architect and optimize AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) clusters for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.

  • Implement serverless architectures with Azure Functions, integrating with containerized workloads.

  • Drive FinOps and cost optimization strategies, including autoscaling and spot instance utilization.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve AKS and storage-related issues across control plane, node pools, and networking.

  • Guide development teams on Kubernetes best practices Helm charts, RBAC, HPA, Secrets/ConfigMaps, StatefulSets.

  • Provide technical guidance on Azure SQL Hyperscale vs. Managed Instance for performance and scalability decisions.

  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services (AKS, Azure SQL, Azure Functions).

  • Strong proficiency in Kubernetes and container orchestration.

  • Solid experience in database migration (Oracle Azure SQL).

  • Deep understanding of AKS troubleshooting, node pool management, and storage optimization.

  • Experience integrating CI/CD pipelines for cloud workloads.

  • Knowledge of FinOps practices and cost governance in cloud environments.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to guide developers and cross-functional teams.
