Technical Project Manager (E-Commerce/Retail)

Apex Systems is looking to hire a Technical Project Manager for one of their retail clients to work remotely out of Western Canada. If interested, please send your updated resume to Madison Muscat at .

Client: Multi-national beauty retailer

Duration: On-going rolling contract, no end date

Location: 100% Remote in Canada - must sit in PST or MST time zone

Pay: $64-69/hr. CAD on T-4 basis OR $80-85/hr. CAD on Incorporated basis

Shift: M-F, 40 hours per week - PST hours

Your role:

The project manager will work closely with the IT Scrum teams to lead cross-functional initiatives identified by the business or IT and managing scope, stakeholders, requirements, timelines, risk mitigation and communication. It may also involve anticipating and proactively identifying what needs to be done and subsequently driving plans and discussions to initiate projects, conducting research and feasibility analysis to provide technical recommendations back to the business / product and working on multiple projects at a time.

Core knowledge in Agile and Scrum practices is required, this role will perform both Project Management and Scrum Master functions within the organization. This role will be in Data Area and will be working with Data Platform team and managing there scope and roadmap for the entire year.

The role requires a self-starter who is versatile, organized and has excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills. Success in this role requires keen attention to detail and an awareness and responsiveness to deadlines within limits of what can realistically be done and having the ability to set expectations.

Responsibilities

Planning Project Resources: The project manager's first role is making a feasible plan that achieves the goals and objectives of the project and aligns with the organization's overall business strategy

Leading Project Team: They need to either take a leadership role with an existing team. Meet regularly, of course, and get status updates to chart their progress, while as needed to avoid blocking team members or overburdening them

Time Management: While communications is key to addresses changes and make sure everyone is doing what they need to do when they need to do it, the project manager must also define, schedule and estimate.

Manage Issues and Risk: You need to be ready for them and work towards resolving them quickly, so as they don't take your project off-track. Then there are risks, which are potential problems, ones that have yet to occur or might not ever. Regardless, you must figure out beforehand what the risks are and set in place a plan of action if they in fact occur

Monitoring Progress: To make sure a project is progressing as planned, you must constantly measure it and compare those metrics against the plan you created.

Reporting and Documentation: Reporting is one of ways you communicate with your team and stakeholders. While teams need more detailed information and stakeholders are looking for broader data to check the project's progress, both are essential tasks for the project manager.

Budget: Figuring out what the proper funding for the project is, having that get accepted and then keeping the project within or under that figure is often what makes or breaks a project. Next, you must monitor the actual spend as compared to the planned budget.

Requirements:
  • Agile/Scrum Master experience
  • 5-7+ years of project management experience
  • Retail/E-commerce (or enterprise-level) experience preferred
  • Strong JIRA experience
  • Digital Marketplace experience is a plus
