The Impact
  • Design, build, and maintain complex ELT jobs that deliver tangible business value.
  • Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical specifications.
  • Ingest and integrate data from diverse sources into our comprehensive data lake and warehouse.
  • Enhance data quality through thorough cleansing and enrichment processes.
  • Provide strategic insights to guide the future development of MassMutual's data platforms.
  • Develop and refine tools to streamline project delivery, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with peers, offering mentorship and fostering a knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Continuously evaluate and advocate for advanced tools, technologies, and processes that drive industry best practices.
  • Actively participate in our Agile development processes, contributing to team meetings and delivering incremental improvements.


The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Data engineering experience in data analytics and data warehousing. Proven experience building complex data pipelines, services etc.

  • 5+ years working with Data and relevant computation frameworks and system
  • 5+ years using Python programming language

  • 5+ years experience in writing SQL and query optimization, with proven experience in constructing data warehousing ETL pipelines.

  • 5+ years of experience with AWS Stack (S3, EC2, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.)
  • 3+ years experience with Docker


The Ideal Qualifications

Beyond the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will also possess the following additional qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Cloud Technologies: Proven experience in a cloud computing environment, preferably AWS.
  • Python: Practical development and data analysis experience using Python.
  • Advanced Data Processing: Knowledge in using data processing technologies such as Apache Spark or Kafka.
  • Workflow Management: Familiarity with orchestration and scheduling tools like Apache Airflow.
  • Reporting: Experience with data reporting and visualization tools (e.g., MicroStrategy, Tableau, Looker) and data cataloging tools (e.g., Alation).
  • Experience with Agile data engineering principles and methodologies
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new concepts, methods, and technologies

  • Strong understanding of ELT methodologies and tools.
  • Familiarity with Informatica IDMC is preferred.
  • Experience in data warehousing and familiarity with data warehousing concepts and terminologies.
  • Capable of troubleshooting and conducting root cause analysis to address and resolve issues effectively.
  • Communication: Outstanding communication skills, coupled with strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Leadership: Ability to work independently and lead small developer teams.
