Workplace Status:

Hybrid - This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the candidate is expected to report to the Milford Proving Ground three times per week, at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

About the role:

This position will support development and testing of diagnostics and prognostics related to thermal runaway propagation (TRP) in HV Battery System on GM vehicles. The selected candidate will develop and run tests that ensure feature/diagnostic functionality and software robustness. Successful candidates will utilize system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to work with their designated scrum to develop testing requirements for TRP related features and diagnostics as well as perform testing in SIL/HIL environments and in vehicle.

Candidates will need to work closely with the controls, software, and calibration engineers in their scrum to understand the testing requirements and develop and automate tests when applicable to meet these requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop tests to exercise and verify the robustness of TRP diag and prognostic algorithms.
  • Plan, and coordinate testing activities with testing technical specialist
  • Support test plan and data reviews
  • Support identification of requirements for resources to develop tests
  • Identify software issues and work with controls and software engineers to root cause software, system, and controls deficiencies
  • Support resolution of vehicle, plant, lab, or customer issues
  • Utilize analytical tools to develop & automate tests in SIL and HIL environments
  • Participate in scrum and support development of algorithms
  • Participate in development trips and related test activities as needed

Additional Description

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Teamwork mentality
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis
  • Knowledge of and passion for electrification propulsion system architectures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience
  • Software, Controls and/or calibration experience
  • SIL/HIL Experience
  • Knowledge of battery chemistry, sensors, and signal processing
  • Knowledge of Battery Management Systems and Architecture
  • Controls software development in C Programming.
  • Experience with tools commonly used in software and calibration: INCA, Vehicle Spy, CRETA, MDA, Matlab/Simulink, Jira
