Genesis10 is currently seeking a Lead Application Developer (AWS & Cloud Modernization) for a 12 month contract role in the retail industry with our client in Richfield, MN. This role is hybrid, working 3 days a week onsite.

Project Description:
The Retail Warehousing (RSS) squad is the conduit for delivering end-user inventory management capabilities and innovations to Client locations. Our mission is to create scalable solutions that:

  • Deliver better customer outcomes
The RSS application is designed with a cross-platform approach-a single build that seamlessly adapts to both large and small views. We are currently on an ambitious modernization journey that includes:
  • Decoupling from legacy monolith systems
  • Migrating to Cloud/AWS for scalability, security, and resilience
  • Revamping the end-to-end user experience to improve usability and efficiency
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transforming the backbone of Client retail inventory operations while working with modern cloud technologies and design practices.

Position Summary/Job Description:
As part of the Client Digital , Analytics and Technology team, the Tech Lead will:
  • Design and Develop Solutions
    • Lead the design and implementation of custom applications, integrations, and cloud-based services.
    • Define and execute technology solutions that align with enterprise timelines and strategic objectives.
    • Write specifications for customizations, system integrations, and data migrations.
  • Drive Modernization and Innovation
    • Guide the application's journey from monolithic systems to cloud-native (AWS) architectures.
    • Champion cross-platform development approaches that work seamlessly across large and small views.
    • Ensure long-term system reliability, scalability, and supportability.
  • Leadership and Mentorship
    • Mentor and coach team members, fostering growth and strong engineering practices.
    • Influence other technical leads, engineers, product partners, and managers to align on technical strategies.
    • Act as a key decision-maker on architecture and design choices.
  • Collaboration and Execution
    • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to deliver solutions that meet critical business needs.
    • Contribute to high-priority, strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Ensure deliverables meet both technical and business expectations.
Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a Tech Lead or equivalent role.
  • Hands-on experience with custom application development, integration technologies, and cloud migration (AWS preferred).
  • Strong expertise in modern programming languages/frameworks (e.g., Java, React JS and React Native, database Aurora / no SQL or similar).
  • Proven ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Prior experience leading modernization efforts (monolith decoupling, cloud-native transformations, UX revamps).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and modern engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and influence cross-functional partners
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Supply Chain applications a plus.
Compensation:
Hourly W2 pay: $80.00 to $85.00/hour

We have access to additional contract, contract-to-hire, and direct hire positions with various rate ranges.
