Position Summary

The Carbon Process Engineer supports all aspects of daily carbon composite manufacturing, KPI development, work instructions, problem solving, as well as the design and development of new or improved products, equipment, and processes.

Essential Functions:
Provide Engineering expertise in the improvement of Parker products, production equipment and processes.
Write and maintain process control documents such as: SOPs, training guides, forms, and work instructions.
Assist in the training of Production Associates.
Participate in cross-functional teams to perform qualification and validation activities for new equipment and products.
Support activities to enable cost reduction, process efficiency and operational excellence.
Help keep equipment functional by assisting Maintenance with trouble-shooting and writing maintenance work orders.
Use equipment drawings and an understanding of functionality to, for example, order replacement graphite parts and oversee repairs to furnace hot zones.
Develop an understanding of production process requirements critical to control systems.
Learn & support furnace operations and supporting systems (e.g. full knowledge of the carbon furnace processes, cooling loops, induction heating, vacuum pumps, etc.).
Help Controls Engineering with central control system for furnaces and obsolescence mitigation projects. Also, support existing control systems by repairing or improving programs/configurations/settings.
Assist Controls Engineer & machine builders with process related items to help successfully deliver a fully integrated control and data acquisition equipment.
Support for control systems (PLC, HMI, Motion Control, and Machine Vision), system integration, sensors and mechanical devices.
Contribute to projects including design, fabrication, installation, qualification and validation, production start-up support, training of maintenance and production personnel, and technology transfer.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CNC machine tool capabilities and tooling to provide continuous process improvements, quality improvements and cost reductions.
Support all aspects of on-site Manufacturing Process development and CNC Programming for the manufacturing and machining of aircraft brake system wear components from the design stage through the final manufacturing process. Work with Programmers, Engineering, Management and Procurement to specify and acquire associated fixtures and tooling.
Supervise Production Associates as required.
Position may require the ability to work weekends to keep facility supervised and cover any gaps in supervision (scheduled on a Sunday rotation)

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or related discipline is required. Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience
Skills:
Strong working knowledge of Computer aided drafting (CAD) & CNC programing
Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Ability to read and understand technical manuals.
Excellent ability to apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem solving
Technical writing.
Strong attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task while under pressure.
Work independently as well as interface with cross-functional disciplines including suppliers, design engineering, quality and procurement; using excellent interpersonal skills to drive tasks to completion
Strong computer skills. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of SAP and MES.
