Role Overview:
The candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing DB2 databases, ensuring their performance, security, and availability. The role requires extensive knowledge in DB2 operations and the ability to work on modern cloud and analytics platforms like AWS and Snowflake, as well as proficiency in monitoring tools such as Splunk.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee database administration including maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Implement and manage security measures along with efficient backup and recovery processes.
- Conduct regular database optimization tasks, including data architecture refinement and SQL query performance enhancement.
- Utilize DB2-specific tools like LOAD, REORG, and RUNSTATS, and understand the integration with system-level scripting like JCL.
- Employ advanced critical thinking to diagnose and resolve sophisticated database malfunctions.
- Craft and maintain documentation of database architectures and convey specifications to both technical and layperson stakeholders.
- Provide around-the-clock support for critical database systems, including scheduled on-call rotations.

Essential Skills and Expertise:
- Proficiency in managing AWS-based database solutions and in-depth grasp of DB2 database administration: Advanced
- Solid experience with Linux, particularly Red Hat distributions: Advanced
- Expertise in architecture and the use of Snowflake cloud data platform: Advanced
- Advanced capability in Unix Shell Scripting for automation and routine tasks: Advanced
- Competence in implementing and managing data replication strategies on a global scale: Intermediate
