Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe-based applications, supporting moderately complex initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Job Title: Software Engineer (Mainframe) - Contingent Assignment

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Engineer to join our team on a contingent basis. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe-based applications, supporting moderately complex initiatives and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the planning, development, and deployment of software engineering deliverables for moderately complex projects.
- Design, code, test, debug, and document software components, with a focus on mainframe technologies.
- Analyze and resolve technical challenges, applying sound judgment and a solid understanding of software engineering principles.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and engineering teams to ensure alignment with business goals and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, service quality, and operational efficiency.
- Support installation, upgrade, and deployment efforts within the technology domain.
- Provide technical guidance and documentation to peers and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering or equivalent experience through a combination of work, education, military service, or training.
- Proficiency in COBOL programming and mainframe development.
- Basic understanding of Assembler language.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EZTRIEVE and knowledge of VSAM types and definitions.
- Familiarity with CICS, JCL, PROC, Endeavor, CA7, and MQ.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- Exposure to tools and methodologies such as Data Space, ServiceNow, Agile, and FMMVS.
- Understanding of basic software testing practices.
