Partner Experience Engineering

Partner Experience is an innovative organization that is focused on providing tools and workflows to support our most valuable partners to integrate Disney's streaming services on hardware devices all over the world. This strategic work requires streamlining partner-facing technology allowing us to scale up partners and their ability to offer our latest features and bundles to their customers.

We are looking for an experienced backend services focused Software Engineer II to join the Partner Experience Engineering team. Your success will depend on your ability to partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to deliver performant services critical to delivering high quality & timely experiences to partners. We are responsible for the timely and efficient management of an integration platform accessed by all regions spanning the globe. Our mission is to invent, design, build, deploy, monitor, support tooling & services powering initiatives and operations needed for global partner integrations of entertainment experiences. Responsibilities
  • Work with a team of engineers to build high-performance, stable, scalable systems to be deployed in an enterprise setting
  • Talk to business partners to understand and refine requirements
  • Participate in architecture discussions and planning sessions; author and share feedback on
  • technical proposals and root cause analyses
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, supporting systems and services during production incidents
  • Write sustainable and reliable code with self-documenting and unit testing.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in functional programming patterns and experience building RESTful services in Scala/ZIO.
  • Knowledge of AGILE/Scrum practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-learner, independent, excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await) and threading/concurrency
  • Understanding of source control concepts and systems, CI/CD pipelines and exposure to Git
  • Experience with build and deployment technologies such as Jenkins and Docker. Experience with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SQS, etc.)
  • Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases, etc.) and strong understanding of design patterns and principles
  • Experience operating within a Public Cloud Provider (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experience with observability tools for metrics, logging, and monitoring (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Grafana)
  • Experience with storage & caching technologies: S3, S3 Compatible on-prem object storage, DynamoDB, RDBMS, Redis

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $117,998 to $158,290 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $112,586 to $151,030; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $123,328 to $165,440 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
