Job Details

Delta Air Lines, Inc. has multiple openings for Senior Software Engineers in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participate and contribute to all the phases of the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Work with application architects to define and design technical solutions, meeting communicated requirements.
  • Understand and contribute to the definition of technical, automation and optimization-based solutions to Flight Crew Scheduling and Flight Crew Recovery business problems that facilitate airline operational excellence, reduction in operational cost, and an increase in operational visibility for business stakeholders.
  • Understand and contribute to the definition of technical solutions to the task of continuous technical modernization of all platforms that support Flight Crew Scheduling and Flight Crew Recovery. Write well designed, testable, and efficient code.
  • Ensure that application component designs follow specifications.
  • Prepare and produce releases of software components using Delta IT and Crew Portfolio standard release procedures and tools.
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies.
  • Support airline Flight Crew Operations by responding to and resolving technical issues if and as they arise and following Delta IT and Crew Portfolio support procedures and schedules.
  • Exhibit technical leadership within the team, problem solving, mentoring, and aiding other team members.
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, and five years of software development experience or related.
  • All the phases of the software development life cycle including RequirementsAnalysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance of distributed systems
  • Building User Interface applications with Web Technologies including HTML4, HTML5, XHTML, DHTML, JavaScript, TypeScript jQuery, XML and JSON, Bootstrap, AJAX, Angular 2+ and Node.js
  • Developing and consuming RESTful web services using Spring Boot framework leveraging MVC architecture and using testing tools including Junit, Karma and building tools including Maven, Gradle, and Release Engineering Tool (RET)
  • Java/ J2EE platforms with WebSphere Applications, REST APIs, Relational Databases, PL/SQL and familiarity with DB tools including TOAD or SQL Navigator
  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD and multiple version control systems including GIT, IBM's Clear case and IDE's including Eclipse, IntelliJ and Visual Studio Code.
