WORK SCHEDULE
100% FTE - 40 hours per week
Day Shift - UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 - 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director will serve as the IT governance, operations, and strategic partner to develop, lead, and facilitate the strategic vision, initiatives, and associated planning, implementation, and performance metrics for successful deployment of healthcare delivery systems. This person will also provide leadership and coordination with ITS leaders, system owners, and operational owners, which includes senior leaders and administrators across UW Medicine.
Continuously improve UW Medicine's IT governance policies, processes, and standards to enable a nimble and efficient process that aligns projects with clinical, business, and research strategy, metrics, and risk priority along with IT solutions, IT guiding principles and capacity
Create enhanced visibility to the portfolio of projects, the cost. and the value
Ensure alignment with healthcare regulations and standards such as HIPAA and other healthcare-specific compliance requirements
Lead and guide IT governance efforts to enable innovative initiatives that improve healthcare delivery
Formulate and execute comprehensive IT strategies and roadmaps that align with UW Medicine and department goals
Assess industry developments, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to identify potential opportunities and risks
Oversee the development, implementation, measurement, and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLA), and other indicators to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency
Conduct regular operational reviews of ITS operations and programs with IT owners to collaboratively assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure strategic alignment with strategic objectives
Develop the framework for product lifecycle management to ensure product(s) meets organizational needs and objectives in collaboration with the IT technical owner
Create a product roadmap for in-patient technology (e.g. Nurse Call) in partnership with Facilities, IT Leadership, and vendor partners that outlines planned features, improvements, and release times
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience
10+ years in IT management or governance roles to include:
Proven background in establishing, implementing, and managing IT governance frameworks (e.g., COBIT, etc.)
Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies
Experience leading IT strategic planning efforts, including developing IT roadmaps that align with organizational objectives
Significant experience managing teams and collaborating with executives, leaders, and stakeholders
Skilled at influencing without direct authority and driving consensus on strategic IT matters
Experience with organizational change management methodologies and process improvement
Solid understanding of current and emerging technologies relevant to healthcare IT
Ability to communicate complex IT concepts and strategies to diverse audiences, including non-technical executives
Experience preparing reports and presentations on IT governance and strategic processes
Experience developing and reviewing IT policies and procedures
