Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer with knowledge in Grid-Forming Technology to join our team. This individual will play a critical role in developing and implementing cutting-edge grid-forming inverter solutions to advance the integration of solar and energy storage technologies. As a member in our organization, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the expansion of our power grid infrastructure, ensuring stability, reliability, and efficiency.

Power Conversion and Storagebusiness works closely with end users in energy-intense industrial applications. We focus on offering integrated electrical systems. A strategy aligned to three major macro trends: Power Stability, Energy Storage and Industrial Electrification.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement advanced grid-forming inverter technologies for utility-scale solar and energy storage applications.
  • Conduct in-depth simulations and modeling (e.g., PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink) to analyze system dynamics, power quality, and grid stability.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on the integration of grid-forming technologies into utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging trends in grid-forming technology, and power system stability.
  • Provide support in writing technical reports, engineering specifications, and contribute to proposals.
  • Stay updated on global grid code requirements, interconnection standards, and industry best practices.
  • Occasional international travel may be required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years of proven experience in the design and development of grid-forming inverters and plant controls.
  • Understanding of power system fundamentals, grid dynamics, and power electronics
  • Proficiency in power system modeling and simulation tools (PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.).

Desired Characteristics:
  • Familiar with the basics of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and how they are used.
  • Have a foundational understanding of IEC 61131-3 programming standards for automation tasks.
  • Comfortable working with programming languages like Python and C++ at a beginner level.
  • Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing techniques through projects or learning opportunities.
  • Gained knowledge about microgrid design and control concepts.
  • Understand distributed energy resources (DERs) and their role in the power grid in a general sense.
  • Have some experience or familiarity with connecting renewable energy systems, like solar or wind, into the grid.

The salary range for this position is 69,600.00 - 87,000.00 - 104,400.00 USD Annual . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. 69,600.00 - 87,000.00 - 104,400.00 USD Annual.
