Job Title: BA/Tester with SQL Server Experience
Location: Austin, TX (Local candidates only No relocation) 100% remote role
Duration: Fulltime
Mandatory Skills: Business Analysis, SQL Server, Medicaid/Healthcare IT, Agile (SAFe preferred)
Overall Experience: 5+ Years (with at least 3 years in Medicaid projects)

Job Description:

The BA/Tester will be responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements, supporting testing activities, and ensuring compliance with Medicaid regulations within an Agile (SAFe) environment. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, a deep understanding of Medicaid processes, and proven experience working on healthcare IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis:

  • Work with business stakeholders to gather and document requirements for Texas Medicaid enhancements.

  • Translate requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Map and optimize Medicaid business processes to meet federal/state compliance.

  • Lead and participate in Agile ceremonies: backlog grooming, sprint planning, PI planning.

  • Create business artifacts: process flows, data maps, and traceability matrices.

Testing & Quality Assurance:

  • Develop and execute test cases based on user stories and requirements.

  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing.

  • Write complex SQL queries for backend testing and data validation.

  • Document and track defects using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira.

  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to resolve issues.

Medicaid Domain Expertise:

  • Leverage knowledge of Medicaid eligibility, claims, LTC, and provider management.

  • Ensure all deliverables align with HIPAA and healthcare compliance standards.

Agile Collaboration:

  • Actively participate in daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

  • Support continuous improvement and Agile best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or QA Tester in Healthcare IT.

  • 3+ years of experience in Medicaid-related projects.

  • Strong SQL Server skills for data validation and testing.

  • Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies, preferably SAFe.

  • Experience with test and defect management tools (Azure DevOps, Jira).

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MMIS (Medicaid Management Information Systems).

  • Automated testing tool knowledge.

  • CBAP, ISTQB, SAFe, or Scrum certifications.

  • State government or public sector healthcare IT experience.

  • Ability to develop and execute test plans, and document test results for compliance.
