What You Will Do
- Provide counsel and advice to top management on significant Application Development matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.
- Act as the principal designer for complex major systems and their subsystems utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs.
- Provide comprehensive consultation to business units and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server, software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.).
- Work closely with client and IT management and staff to identify application development solutions, new or modified programs, reuse of existing code through the use of program development software alternatives, or integration of purchased solutions or a combination of the available alternatives.
- Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective application programming solution.
- May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrate purchased solutions.
- Document, test, implement and provide on-going support for the applications.
- Focus on providing thought leadership and technical expertise across multiple disciplines.
- Recognized internally as go-to person, for the most complex Application Development.
Skills and Experience You Will Need
Required:
- Extensive experience in Java and application development, with enterprise-level applications design and programing, including those developed on the Pega platform.
- Experience working on complex distributed systems, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Able to provide thought leadership demonstrating technical solutioning, innovation and efficiency
- Able to drive cross-functional development teams.
Desired:
- Experience with AWS EC2: provisioning, monitoring, or scaling instances.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalent.
- Healthcare or medical domain experience

** Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on actual job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of remaining stationary at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift to 15 lbs., as needed
- Must be able to work on-site (corporate/client offices), as needed (not applicable for 100% remote roles)
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
- Hand-eye coordination necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, the ability to tolerate fluorescent lighting, and the ability to adjust focus.
