Job Details

Please note that this is a 1-year contract position.

Candidate must live in CO; position will be remote in Colorado.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, or related field required.

  • 2 4 years of experience required.

  • Experience supporting multiple hosted telecommunication systems; certification a plus.

  • Experience in fiber optic cable design and implementation projects.

  • Experience managing small to medium projects.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to use full Microsoft suite.

  • Needs a general understanding of IP networking and routing protocols.

Job Summary:
Documents and manages fiber optic network assets for inside and outside plant network. Edits and modifies network data, studies project objectives, researches and develops fiber optic network techniques and approaches; validates designs; supports project implementation in a very detailed working environment using fiber optic network industry software.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Documents, edits, and modifies records of fiber optic network assets for inside plant and outside plant operations using fiber optic network software.

  2. Uses research and analysis of network orders, diagrams, fiber optical routes documentation, customer databases for verification and validation of the customer fiber optics network assets records.

  3. Evaluates fiber optic designs issues by studying project concepts, objectives, priorities, and requirements.

  4. Responsible for gathering, reviewing, and interpreting various data sources for comparison and validation of fiber optic network.

  5. Validates design drawings by identifying, isolating, and resolving performance problems in relation to data entry for fiber optic network software.

  6. Uses related industry software, including MapInfo, AutoCAD (not required), Visio, Google Earth/Maps, and MS Office software.

  7. Researches and validates building addresses and coordinates using Google Earth/Maps to ensure proper location and creates building footprint using fiber optic network software.

  8. Understands databases, queries, spreadsheets, and schematic drawings.

  9. Proficient in reading and understanding dark fiber contracts, with the ability to act on the terms set out within the contract.

  10. Deep understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels, including physical interfaces, cable types, fiber types, connector types, and riser details.

Additional Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, project-management, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of GIS and AutoCAD a plus but not required.

  • A big plus if a candidate has network design experience.
