What You'll Do
Responsible for designing and planning sophisticated network infrastructures to meet organizational needs for connectivity, security, and scalability. Develop high-level network strategies, select appropriate technologies, and create network documentation. Assesses business requirements, ensure networks support current operations and future growth while maintaining optimal performance. Oversees network implementations, evaluates system performance, and recommends upgrades to address evolving demands or vulnerabilities. Collaborates with IT teams, vendors, and leadership to align network designs with strategic goals and industry standards. The role requires advanced technical knowledge, strategic planning skills, and expertise in network architecture tools.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and implementation of the network infrastructure technology roadmap, aligning business goals and industry best practices. Stay current of industry trends and emerging technologies in the networking, collaboration, and wireless space. Research, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging tools and technologies.
- Leadership/Team Skills-Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable network, collaboration, and wireless solutions, including data center, LAN/WAN, unified communications, notification tools, and content sharing platforms. Oversee the integration of network tools with existing IT infrastructure and applications. Participates as a leader and as a team member. Values and integrates ideas of others. Assists in training other IT Networking professionals.
- Schedule Awareness/Commitment to Task- Completes all assigned tasks within the time and budget allocation. Promptly informs supervisor of any significant events that would result in schedule delays. Provides expert technical support for network infrastructure, troubleshoots issues, and resolving incidents escalated by team members. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network systems.
- Monitor system performance and optimize for optimal user experience. Completes or assists with new equipment set up, connections, granting access to resources on the network, troubleshooting and analysis of data center, network, collaboration, or wireless hardware.
- Product/Customer Support-Is sensitive to the needs of internal and external customers. Responds in a timely manner and treats customers with respect. Interacts and communicates with the IT Support Center in a timely, effective, and professional manner.
- Performs off-hours maintenance including taking collaboration or network hardware down periodically and applying software updates. Coordinates these recommendations and changes with the Supervisor, appropriate Engineers and Technicians, and appropriate users. Submits appropriate change management requests for any changes made.
- Works closely with IT Security to ensure appropriate security configurations and standards are in place and exceptions are documented. Assists IT Security in performing risk and vulnerability assessments and network scanning to ensure security measures are appropriate and effective.
- Documents tasks/incidents in the task tracking system which includes details of processes, solutions, and time required to complete the task. Utilizes and updates asset management system to track Health System assets.
Requirements
- 5-7 years of experience in networking engineering or architecture.
- Demonstrated success in designing and deploying complex network systems.
- Background in managing large-scale network projects or migrations.
- CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Clean driving record.
- Current driver's license.
