In this position...

The PVT Engineer works as a part of the Variability Reduction team which is comprised of members from various Skill Teams at Ford. The work is fast-paced and involves absorbing information from numerous sources, both internal and external to the company, drilling down and assessing the information in an effort to reduce variability at the component and system levels. The work is challenging and requires hours of sustained application while operating within the cadence of an Assembly Plant. For the right candidate, the outcomes, when they meet or exceed our customers' expectations, are often exhilarating!

What you'll do...
  • Review incoming warranty claims data on a daily basis, review customer and dealership comments, work across skill teams to bin claims into proper binning categories, contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback, review returned parts for root cause analyses and develop Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analyses and other Quality related tasks.
  • Lead engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and lead cost reduction actions in current production vehicles.
  • Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for subsystem components to address quality concerns
  • Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system
  • Issue engineering Alerts and initiate and/or pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality, Cost and waste-avoidance objectives
  • Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality
  • Maintain sub-system or Vehicle Functional Group (VFG) level Quality documents (SAQ, Top 20 concerns)
  • Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews)


You'll have...
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Experience in engineering problem solving as well as root cause identification and analysis, developing containment actions and permanent corrective actions
  • Experience with generating documentation to track progress and advance Quality outcomes. e.g. 8Ds, BSAQ projects.

  • Electrical Systems Experience
  • Six-Sigma Training (Black Belt or Green Belt Certification)
  • Ability in work in a fast-paced environment to support quick decision making
  • Familiarity with CAD systems
  • 3+ yrs. Automotive Experience
