Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Foster City, CA to:
  1. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
  2. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
  3. Build analytics tools that utilize the data automation pipeline to provide actionable insights.
  4. Analyze input Data elements across multiple sources and build Data lineage for the Asset Management System.
  5. Work on emerging technologies, building highly scalable, secure, reliable and fault tolerant distributed systems.
  6. Participate in design and code review sessions as appropriate.
  7. Provide third-level support to business users.
  8. Present technical solutions, capabilities, considerations, and features in business terms. Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
  9. Find opportunities to create, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.
  10. Position reports to the Foster City, California office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Employer will accept a Master's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a data engineer or data analyst-related occupation.
  • Position requires experience in the following skills through academic coursework and/or work experience:
    1. Python;
    2. Spark (pySpark)
    3. Unix;
    4. SQL;
    5. BigData / Hadoop technologies, including Hive, Presto, Tableau;
    6. Time series forecasting;
    7. Machine Learning;
    8. Airflow;
    9. Data Visualization and Data mining;
    10. ETL; and
    11. AWS.

Worksite:Foster City, CA

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $129,400.00 to $200,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
