Pay Schedule VI, Grade 31, Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week.

A vacancy exists in the Department of Permits, Approval and Inspections, Division of Buildings Plan Review.

Examples of Duties

Definition of Responsibility
Under general supervision, reviews residential building plans for compliance with jurisdictional codes pertaining to structural, fire protection, architectural, and mechanical design.

Examples of Essential Duties
  • Reviews plans, scope of work, equipment cutsheets, and other documents pertaining the project.
  • Provides guidance and assistance in the use of GIS, and other aspects of project work.
  • Reviews residential projects to ensure that specific requirements oftheBuildingCode,MechanicalCode,FloodPlainRegulations,EnergyCode,LifeSafetyCode,andother related codes and laws are met
  • Corresponds and meets with agencies to resolve issues regarding permit applications.
  • Conducts meetings with consultants, contractors, suppliers, citizens, and others regarding residential projects.
  • Addresses and answers their questions and comments.
  • Prepares correspondence related to projects.
  • Studies and resolves issues occurring during the project's construction.
  • Meets and coordinates with field personnel.

    Manages the development closeout process for all residential and commercial subdivision projects.
  • Supervises and coordinates County agency closeout reviews.
  • Resolves deficiencies identified by County agencies.Meetswithagencyrepresentatives,developers,engineers,andattorneystoresolvecloseoutproblems.
  • Works with citizens to resolve complaints.

Qualifications
High School diploma or an appropriate equivalent

Plus

Ten years' subprofessional engineering experience.

(Additional qualifying education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years for the required experience.)

Or

Possession of a certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Maryland.

Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications, and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Salary

Annual Salary review - Step increases may be granted on anniversary date based on satisfactory job performance
General Increases - Cost of living increases and adjustments may be granted as legislated.
Longevity Increases - In accordance with the specific pay schedule, a full-time merit or classified employee may receive a longevity increase, equivalent to one step, upon completion of a certain number of years of classified service with the County.

Health Insurance
