As a CMDB (Configuration Management Database) Configuration Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, reliability, and accuracy of our organization's CMDB, and the integration and support of the Configuration Management process to the other ITIL processes such as Incident, Problem, Change, Release. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the configuration management processes, ensuring that all configuration items are properly identified, documented, and controlled throughout their lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with various teams to establish and maintain configuration standards, policies, and procedures, ultimately contributing to the optimization of IT service delivery and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in IT Service Management (e.g., ITIL) is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in configuration management, with a focus on CMDB administration and governance.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in using CMDB tools, discovery tools, and related software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data integrity and accuracy.
  • Experience with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks is a plus.

Description:

  • CMDB Governance: Develop and enforce CMDB governance policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and organizational requirements.
  • Configuration Identification: Lead efforts to identify and define configuration items (CIs) within the IT environment, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accuracy.
  • Configuration Documentation: Oversee the documentation of configuration items, including attributes, relationships, and dependencies, to facilitate effective configuration management and decision-making.
  • Change Management Integration: Collaborate with change management teams to ensure that all changes to configuration items are accurately recorded, evaluated, and incorporated into the CMDB.
  • Configuration Baseline Management: Establish and maintain configuration baselines to capture the state of CIs at specific points in time, facilitating effective change control and auditing.
  • Configuration Verification and Audit: Conduct regular audits and verification activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of CMDB data, identifying and rectifying discrepancies as necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of configuration management processes and tools.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with various stakeholders, including IT operations, infrastructure teams, service desk, and application owners, to ensure alignment between configuration management activities and organizational objectives.
  • Tool Administration: Administer CMDB tools and related software applications, including configuration management databases, discovery tools, and integration platforms, to support configuration management activities effectively.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Provide training and guidance to IT staff on configuration management processes, tools, and best practices, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
