Overview

The Identity and Access Management Engineer functions as the primary contact and expert for the application. Working under the direction of the Executive Director, Research Informatics Office to build & install and support applications. Coordinates all issues that arise during the project for their application area.

Primary responsibilities include

Analyzing workflows and understanding policies, procedures and constraints of the clinical or business operations. In depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality is required. A key activity is to work with users to determine project needs, develop proposals, and recommend opportunities for technological and workflow improvement. They function as the primary contact to support the implementation of new projects and upgrades as well as troubleshoot problems and questions from end - users during training, go-live and post go-live periods. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position. Successful candidates have an interest in emerging technologies and enjoy working with people to identify how technology can effectively support business needs.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Application Implementation and Support
  • Supports application implementation and maintenance including analysis, planning and preparation.
  • Demonstrates extraordinary ability to perform the technical skills of the job.
  • Works with Application Specialists I and team members, to enhance technical and analytical skills, provide support and provides recommendations and participates in all project related activities including walk throughs.
  • May provide input to performance reviews of Application Specialists and team members.
  • Designs, programs and tests conversions, interfaces, reports and other computer programs according to the departmental standards.
  • Analyzes needs and proposes solutions for application systems, including programs needed to convert data from the old to the new system.
  • Identifies and recommends changes in workflow, procedures, forms and/or data to make optimal use of application systems.
  • Provides software functionality, design, and build expertise and experience needed for successful implementation.
  • Assists in resolving major design issues and presents options for resolution.
  • Analyzes business processes to ensure proper system configuration.
  • Logs, tracks, and resolves issues and changes in regards to software code modifications or enhancements.
  • Meets with users to determine specifications of particular hardware or software needs.
  • Informs management of all issues that are impacting or will impact assigned area/s.

2.Teamwork
  • Creates and maintains regular status reports to Manager.
  • Attends weekly team meetings to discuss team and project related activities, issues, change, communications, and updates.
  • Completes specific task activities as assigned and documented in project plans.
  • Works with training team to develop application specific training curriculums and materials.
  • Supports all project team members with application and information systems knowledge.
  • Promotes a team atmosphere that is conducive to the overall accomplishment of goals, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Openly shares information with all team members.
  • Willingness to subordinate individual goals for team goals.

3. Documentation
  • Documents and maintains all required system design and build documents and configures system accordingly.
  • Contributes to preparation of testing scripts and materials and performs unit, system, and integrated testing tasks.
  • Provides expertise and experience to the development of production environment readiness plan.

4. Other
  • Provides training to other IT staff and user clients as appropriate.
  • Coordinates interactions and activities of vendors, both on-site and off-site.
  • Work closely with end users to identify business needs and benefits of implementing a computing solution and strives to understand their needs.

Required Skills and Abilities
1.Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision and ability to deal with simultaneous tasks, communicate effectively, problem solve, and develop creative solutions to complex problems required.

2. Strong organizational, problem solving and listening skills, attention to detail, innovative thinking and ability to inspire others required.

3. Must possess a high level of customer service skills and participate as strong, collaborative team player.
4. Capable of taking leadership role in managing end user relationships.

5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

Minimum 5 years' experience in Healthcare and/or technology strongly preferred. A minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience as a Systems Analyst is required. Ability to analyze workflow to recommend and develop application solutions. Ability to research and interpret data; to include reporting, preparing and presenting data. I.T. Healthcare experience in supporting EMR systems. Epic Security Certification required.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Provides technical expertise in resolving user system deficiencies and determines appropriate action. 2. Provides system services and analyze system performance for stakeholders and intended end users. Performs all activities necessary to activate a new operating system or new release of an existing system, including analysis, design, implementation, and related documentation. Analyzes systems performance and modifies programs to increase the efficiency of the operation. Reinstates integrity of system as quickly as possible following an outage in order to minimize item and data loss. 3. Recommends and authorizes system upgrades and software installations. 4. Designs, develops and implements new system tools. 5. Analyzes execution time of commonly used instruction to identify and replaces those that are inefficient or slow to operation. 6. Analyzes, evaluates and takes steps to circumvent problems and restores systems to operating condition. 7. Contributes in the determination of specifications and determines the combination of options needed to tailor an operating system to meet the business needs. 8. Conducts training and user education. 9. Researches new technologies, processes, and methodologies. 10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree. Four years of experience as a systems programmer with knowledge of one or more high level languages, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
