SpotOn Fence invented the Dog GPS Fence category in 2019 and has experienced commercial success as well as won awards from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), South By Southwest (SXSW), the Stevies, & the NH Tech Alliance.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Bluetooth, GNSS, and battery-operated consumer electronics. This is an individual contributor role. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, and improving electrical systems in our innovative SpotOn product portfolio, leveraging their knowledge in wireless communication technologies and power systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test electrical components and systems including circuit boards, processors, battery systems, and wireless communication modules (Bluetooth, LTE-M, GNSS) for consumer electronics.
  • Evaluate and enhance product designs for power management, energy efficiency, and wireless connectivity, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and product managers, to integrate electrical systems and solve interdisciplinary design challenges.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product design and system issues.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in battery technology, IoT, and wireless communication protocols and integrate them into product designs where applicable.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including product design specifications, test protocols, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support manufacturing processes and quality control to ensure products meet required specifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the design and development of IoT enabled, battery-operated consumer electronics.
  • Experience with analog and digital design with mixed signal interface and conversion circuit knowledge and the ability to specify components and/or subassemblies.
  • Experience with power conversion for high efficiency, high reliability, battery powered systems.
  • Experience with PWB layout, packaging, and test of low-noise, mixed-mode circuitry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in power management, energy storage technologies, and wireless communications (Bluetooth, LTE-M, GNSS).
  • High proficiency in using CAD and simulation software for circuit design and analysis.
  • Strong design, debug, and troubleshooting skills with solid hands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, logic/spectrum analyzers and other test equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience designing for high volume manufacturing.
