Job Details

Title: Research and Development Technician

Description:

Responsibilities:

With guidance from supervision and within established procedures, conducts routine research laboratory activities, information/data management activities or operates small scale production equipment in support of research and development.
Identifies and suggests improvements in methods, plans projects of limited duration and scope, troubleshoots when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
Responsible for producing research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assembling and configuring of small scale production equipment and control systems in a timely fashion utilizing a variety of techniques, effectively documenting findings and communicating results.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations for E-coat and Dispersion using mixing equipment, electrocoating equipment, pilot reactor, and dispersion equipment
Accurately running and recording test results for all coatings formulations.
Interpretation and communication of test results using computer-based systems.
Use advanced mathematical tools such as statistics.
Documentation of experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel.
Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis.
Safely load, process, test, filter, and transport small batch materials in a plant environment.
Requires frequent handling of 5 gallon and 55-gallon containers.
Safely load, synthesize, and analyze various coatings related materials.
Requires frequent handling of hazardous materials.
Handling multiple tasks under strict time constraints
Ability to work well with supervisor and a variety of R&D, manufacturing, and marketing people in a team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum HS diploma/GED AND one year certificate from college or technical school or 1-year related experience.
Laboratory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products.
Effective problem solver.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Note :

Additional info on lab experience
Ideally the candidate would have experience in lab from a manufacturing facility.
Lab work as a part of a college curriculum would be the next level down, but would be helpful for this role.
manufacturing experience handling chemical would be a benefit.
Chemistry experience is a bonus for those that are looking for an entry position and future growth within the company.


Comments/Special Instructions

Occasional overtime may be required.
7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
