Desktop Support Technician
About the Position:
TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Technician for one of our clients based out of Westerville, OH. The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance to computer users, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, installing applications, managing user accounts, and troubleshooting problems related to desktop computers and peripherals. The technician will serve as the first point of contact for users via the organization's help desk system.

TEKsystems is seeking an experienced Desktop Support Technician for one of our clients based out of Westerville, OH. The Desktop Support Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance to computer users, diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, installing applications, managing user accounts, and troubleshooting problems related to desktop computers and peripherals. The technician will serve as the first point of contact for users via the organization's help desk system.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, operating systems, network connectivity, and peripherals.
- Diagnose and fix network problems such as connectivity issues, configuration errors, and access conflicts.
- Install and update applications, drivers, and operating systems on workstations.
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, and password resets.
- Address hardware failures, including troubleshooting memory, storage devices, peripherals, and display issues.
- Enforce security policies on workstations, including access control and software updates.
- Track and prioritize user-reported issues within the ticketing system.
- Provide basic user training on new applications and system features.
- Collaborate with department staff to ensure proper functionality and resolve concerns.
- Collect and report data related to IT support requests and system performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in desktop support or a similar technical role.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities for network and workstation-related issues.
- Experience in an enterprise or corporate IT environment.
- Industry-standard certification or equivalent work experience (e.g., CompTIA A+).
- In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems and system imaging processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to assist users effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with IT security policies and compliance standards is a plus.
