Job Description: 7041 - SharePoint Designer/Developer (Must Reside in the St. Paul area to be Considered)
Overview
An experienced SharePoint Designer/Developer is sought to support the redesign and migration of an intranet site. The role will involve evaluating the current information architecture, designing and building a new SharePoint Communication site, creating templates and permissions, and migrating existing content. The successful candidate will ensure the site meets accessibility standards, supports user adoption, and provides long-term maintainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze existing content and recommend enhancements to information architecture, organization, and navigation.
- Gather requirements through meetings with multiple stakeholders.
- Create a new intranet graphic design and page templates in SharePoint Communication site.
- Develop and execute a migration plan, ensuring proper formatting and organization.
- Define and implement SharePoint permissions, workflows, and governance structures.
- Build the SharePoint site using templates and approved design.
- Migrate existing content per the approved migration plan.
- Assist in launch planning and integration with existing SharePoint sites.
- Provide guidance and planning for change management and user adoption.
- Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with SharePoint development, including site design, customization, and administration.
- Proven ability to define and implement SharePoint architecture and features using best practices.
- Experience planning and executing content strategy or information architecture.
- Hands-on experience migrating intranet sites from other systems into SharePoint.
- Strong knowledge of enabling SharePoint permissions, workflows, data retention, and governance.
- Experience integrating Microsoft 365 with SharePoint.
- Ability to analyze and interpret user requirements and develop corresponding solutions.
- Strong graphic design skills for creating professional and engaging layouts.
- Experience creating accessible SharePoint templates that meet WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards.
- Experience providing technical training during the hand-off of SharePoint sites.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience guiding change management and driving user adoption of new systems.
- Prior success delivering technical training and knowledge transfer in large organizations.
- Background in staffing or supporting multiple projects involving SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
