Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations. Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors.

What You Will Do
Under general supervision, project work designed to support and enhance the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department's initiatives and projects.
- May assist with and transpose complex data from hard copy records, maps, CAD drawings, county, state and federal land base maps and data bases into electronic GIS format
- May assist with the creation of maps and exhibits for land and water applications.
- May assist with administration and support of GIS servers.
- Aids and support for departmental projects and tasks as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
- Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor's or higher, in Computer Science, Geography or closely related field; OR
- Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor's or higher, in Computer Science, Geography or closely related field.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Possesses strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Highly accurate and detail oriented.
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in the use of ESRI ARCGIS applications and software.
What We Offer:
- The estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.00 - $28.75/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
