Job Details

We are seeking a Transportation Technician 3 (TMC Tech III) to support the Transportation Management center in Nashville. This advanced technician role will operate in a traffic control room environment, monitoring roadways and managing incidents to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic.

This is a critical operations role involving real-time surveillance, system monitoring, and coordination with law enforcement and emergency responders.


Responsibilities:

  • Monitor roadways using CCTV, detection systems, and ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) tools.

  • Dispatch appropriate responders to scheduled and unscheduled traffic incidents.

  • Operate and maintain traffic management software and computer systems.

  • Communicate with multiple agencies to coordinate incident responses.

  • Maintain situational awareness and alertness during long shifts.

  • Report complex or critical issues to supervisory staff.

  • Work independently while adhering to established operational procedures.


Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in call center, dispatch, or control room operations (highly preferred).

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Comfortable using MS Office, MS Outlook, and basic computer systems.

  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.

  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to shift-based work.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with traffic operations, 911 dispatch, fleet management, or public safety coordination.

  • Familiarity with traffic systems or government transportation agencies.
