Job Details

  • Manages evidence intake.
  • Maintains chain of custody through thorough documentation.
  • Captures photographs of digital evidence
  • Keeps contemporaneous notes to document actions performed with digital evidence.
  • Collaborates with peers, officers, and detectives.
  • Conducts data acquisition from a variety of digital devices.
  • Creates forensic reports.
  • Analyzes data obtained from digital evidence.
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University and in good academic standing.
  • Currently enrolled in the IU Indianapolis School of Science, majoring in Forensic and Investigative Sciences.
  • Cumulative GPA above 2.5 while in program.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire.
SKILLS

Required
  • Exceptional writing abilities.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to sign a confidentiality agreement and maintain high confidentiality regarding all investigations.
  • Ability to deal with potentially distressing and graphic subject matter.
Preferred
  • Possesses basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking.
  • Possesses basic familiarity with mobile device technologies and operating systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social networking platforms and applications (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Kik, TikTok, etc.).
Working Conditions / Demands

Requires travel off campus.
