Worldwide Technology is looking for a SolarWinds Consultant. This role is part of WWT s Strategic Resourcing services and is a contract role. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT s preferred partners. The partner will provide full compensation and benefit information prior to employment with the partner.

Title: SolarWinds Consultant
Location: Remote
Duration/Type of Job: 1-2 weeks
Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $60 to $100 hourly (Rate range is on C2C basis). Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a SolarWinds Consultant for a short-term, high-impact engagement focused on enhancing and optimizing our existing SolarWinds monitoring environment. This effort will focus on compliance configuration monitoring, inventory reporting, capacity planning, and introducing new monitoring capabilities.
Key Deliverables:
- Compliance Configuration Monitoring & Remediation
- Configure monitoring for compliance policies
- Identify gaps and perform remediation steps
- Inventory Reporting
- Build and validate inventory reports for devices and interfaces
- Deliver exportable reports (CSV, Excel, or integrated dashboard format)
- Capacity Planning
- Analyze and report on used vs. available resources (CPU, memory, bandwidth, etc.)
- Collect and report on SFP light levels
- Recommend improvements or thresholds based on performance trends
- Predictive Maintenance (Light Level PM Prediction)
- Implement or suggest tools/logic to predict issues based on SFP light level trends
- Net-New Monitoring Setup
- Detect and onboard devices or interfaces not currently monitored
- Ensure complete visibility across network components
- Monitoring Evolution & Variable Expansion
- Identify and integrate new relevant metrics/variables for future monitoring
- Recommend a framework for continued monitoring growth
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expert-level experience with SolarWinds (NPM, NCM, SAM, and related modules)
- Strong background in network and systems monitoring
- Experience with compliance frameworks and monitoring policy enforcement
- Familiarity with capacity planning, performance tuning, and predictive analytics
- Ability to build custom reports and dashboards in SolarWinds
- Experience with SFP diagnostics, light level monitoring, and threshold tuning
- Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation
- Knowledge of SNMP, WMI, and network polling methods
- Prior consulting experience in enterprise environments
- Familiarity with ITSM processes (e.g., change management)
