Job Title: Senior HP Non-Stop Administrator
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Duration: 12 Months
Essential Functions:
The Senior HP Non-Stop Administrator will:
Manage and maintain HPE Non-Stop (Tandem) systems in production and development environments
Monitor system health, availability, and performance to ensure 24/7 uptime for mission-critical applications
Perform system startups, shutdowns, cold loads, and recovery procedures
Configure and enforce security policies
Manage user access, roles, and audit settings in compliance with internal and regulatory standards
Monitor for unauthorized access and respond to security incidents
Analyze system metrics and proactively tune performance
Plan for future growth through capacity forecasting and resource optimization
Utilize tools like MEASURE for diagnostics and tuning
Implement and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures
Test recovery scenarios to ensure business continuity
Support high-availability configurations and fault-tolerant design
Apply OS patches, firmware updates, and software upgrades
Coordinate change management and release cycles with development and operations teams
Work closely with developers, QA, and infrastructure teams to support application deployments and system integration
Provide support for escalated incidents (Severity 1, 2) and root cause analysis
Participate in on-call rotations and off-hours maintenance windows
Maintain detailed system documentation, runbooks, and configuration records
Deliverables:
24x7 system availability
System monitoring and issue resolution
Apply OS patches and security updates regularly
Performance monitoring, reporting, analysis and tuning
Implementation of Production code releases as well as HPE Upgrades
Technical Documentation Deployment and configuration manuals
Support for escalated incidents (Severity 1, 2 ) and root cause analysis
Requirements:
Bachelor s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (required)
7+ years of hands-on development experience on HPE NonStop (Tandem) systems
Proficiency with HP NonStop operating environments including Guardian, OSS, and associated utilities (FUP, SCF, TACL)
Hands-on experience with TACL scripting for system automation and operational routines
Experience applying system patches, firmware updates, and OS-level security hardening
Expertise in managing Enscribe file structures, system configurations, and file access controls
Strong understanding of Pathway server configuration and administration
Familiarity with NetBatch or similar job scheduling and batch control systems
Experience with configuration and monitoring of Event Management System (EMS) for transportation-related alerts and diagnostics
Experience with network administration including Cluster I/O Module (CLIM) setup, IP configuration, and diagnostics across onboard and control center infrastructure
Preferred:
HPE Nonstop technical certification
10 years of hands-on administration experience on HPE NonStop (Tandem) platforms
Experience in mission-critical transportation, logistics, or dispatching systems
Knowledge of NonStop SQL/MP and SQL/MX for database maintenance, optimization, and reporting
Exposure to hybrid integration models (e.g., Non-Stop to REST API architectures, iTPWebServer, NSHTTP)
Prior experience working in environments governed by strict SLAs and regulatory standards.
