Flexibility Requirement: Must have availability, with advance notice, to cover other shifts Monday through Friday within a 16-hour window (6:00 AM 10:00 PM EST)
About the Role
K Systems Solutions is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Onsite Installation & Commissioning Consultant to support one of our flagship transportation engagements in Midtown Manhattan. In this role, you will be directly responsible for field commissioning, monitoring, and daily reporting for critical transit system components, including the Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) system. The position is 100% onsite and directly supports a large global transportation provider delivering safe, reliable, and innovative mobility services.
Key Responsibilities ATS System Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor the real-time performance of the Automatic Train Supervision (ATS) system during assigned shifts.
- Log system behavior, diagnostics, and alarm conditions with accuracy and timeliness.
- Generate and deliver daily performance summaries and event reports to both internal stakeholders and the end-client s offsite engineering and operations teams.
- Coordinate with the control center and remote engineering staff to verify ATS functionality and troubleshoot incidents.
Onsite Commissioning & Installation Oversight
- Conduct installation verification and commissioning of transportation system components (hardware, software, and networked systems).
- Follow detailed test procedures and document all test results and anomalies.
- Identify technical issues, recommend corrective actions, and support resolution activities.
- Perform handover procedures, including client briefings and documentation.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Serve as the technical point-of-contact onsite for K Systems Solutions and maintain close communication with the end-client s offsite team.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical insights and status updates.
- Supervise or guide subcontractors and field personnel during test and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with all workplace safety and project-specific operational protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or related discipline) preferred.
- 3 7+ years of experience in transportation systems, commissioning, or infrastructure projects.
- Hands-on experience with ATS systems, SCADA, or other real-time supervisory control platforms.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in live field environments with multidisciplinary teams.
- Must be available onsite daily from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM EST and have the flexibility to work other shifts Monday through Friday within a 6:00 AM 10:00 PM EST window with advance notice.
- Experience with transportation technologies from Siemens, Alstom, Hitachi, or similar providers is a strong plus.
Compensation & Commitment
- Hourly rate, competitive and based on experience.
- Minimum of 4 hours per day, Monday through Friday (20 hours/week minimum).
- Additional hours and alternative shifts may be requested in advance based on project needs.
