Contract: W2 Only

About the Role
The University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking a Workday Data Migration Lead to drive the planning, execution, and oversight of the data conversion workstream for our Workday implementation. You ll lead the complete migration of data from legacy PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll systems into Workday ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance every step of the way.

What You ll Do

  • Own the end-to-end data conversion lifecycle from requirements gathering through post go-live validation.

  • Create and manage detailed migration plans, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Oversee extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from PeopleSoft HCM, Finance, and Payroll into Workday.

  • Define and implement data mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation processes with functional and technical leads.

  • Partner with URI stakeholders, IT teams, and consultants to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.

  • Ensure all work meets URI s data quality, security, and governance standards.

  • Lead and coordinate testing and validation efforts with business users.

  • Provide regular progress reports, risk assessments, and issue resolution updates to project leadership.


What We re Looking For

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master s preferred).

  • 7+ years in data migration/conversion, with 3+ years specifically leading Workday migration projects.

  • Proficiency with ETL tools such as Workday EIB, Workday Studio, Talend, Informatica, SQL, Alteryx, or similar.

  • Hands-on experience migrating PeopleSoft to Workday (HCM, Finance, Payroll).

  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams.

  • Expertise in data architecture, governance, validation, and reconciliation best practices.


Bonus Points For

  • Higher education experience, especially within public research universities.

  • Workday and/or PeopleSoft certifications.

  • Experience with cloud-based migration and secure data handling practices.
