The Health Team is looking for talented developers to join a team of highly skilled engineers who fulfill our mission of delivering a fast and frictionless developer experience.

Description As a member of the team you'll have the opportunity to work with experts in the field to design tools and processes to create a world class development pipeline. We support the teams at Apple that build HealthKit, the Health app, and other health projects - from watchOS apps to Clinical Research. We also work with teams across Apple to collaborate on developer productivity, champion improvements to developer tools, and evangelize the work our team has done. This position requires a self-motivated engineer with strong technical and communication skills. Responsibilities - Write new tools and systems to analyze, modify, and simplify inputs to our source code and configuration files - Identify opportunities reduce system complexity of our source code and projects - Optimize the performance and usability of our build tooling - Provide input into team priorities and project roadmaps - Work with the Developer tools and Build Engineering teams to optimize our build efficiency - Participate in architecture and code reviews Responsibilities: - Implement new health-related features across Apple platforms that meet or exceed our high standards for quality - Forge collaborative relationships with a wide variety of cross-functional teams to prototype ideas, develop plans, and make product and architectural decisions - Evangelize our values and contribute to design and architecture reviews - Communicate ideas and best practices to other teams in Health and across Apple - Accurately scope the effort and work items required to complete large (multi-month) feature projects - Design and build testable software, working closely with QA - Diagnose, triage, fix, and prevent issues related to functionality, reliability, and performance

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience working in iOS or macOS software
  • Passion for accelerating the development velocity of other engineers and improving their developer experience as part of a larger team
  • Experience working within large scale codebases
  • Experienced with Swift and Objective-C
  • Experienced with the build toolchains (clang, ld, etc.)
  • BS Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Xcode and other apple-specific tools (swiftc, xcodebuild, actool, ibtool, codesign)
  • Familiarity of the underlying structure of Frameworks, libraries, etc.
  • Experience with compiler frontend (optional)
  • Experience with python, nodejs, bash, or similar scripting languages (optional)
  • Passion for accelerating the development velocity of other engineers and improving their developer experience as part of a larger team
  • Familiarity with Wellness or Medical concepts
