Key Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Strategy
- Define and drive the long-term vision and roadmap for backend platform services.
- Align platform strategy with broader business and product goals.
- Prioritize features and technical initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and stakeholder input.
Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Own and optimize the microservice layer, ensuring seamless integration between client apps and backend services.
- Manage and evolve APIs in collaboration with engineering teams to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Partner with internal engineering teams to maintain a robust, secure, and high-performance backend architecture.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison with shared services teams and third-party technology providers.
- Collaborate closely with mobile and living room app teams to translate frontend needs into backend capabilities.
- Work with engineering, QA, design, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality product delivery.
Execution & Delivery
- Own the product roadmap and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support platform management responsibilities, enabling architects to focus on strategic initiatives.
- Monitor key performance metrics and continuously refine the platform to enhance user experience and system efficiency.
Innovation & Industry Awareness
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in streaming and backend systems.
- Identify opportunities for platform improvements and lead initiatives to implement innovative solutions.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager or Technical Product Manager in backend platform development.
- 3-5 years of backend engineering experience, ideally with cloud-based microservices.
- 2+ years in a product role with demonstrated success in delivering scalable backend systems.
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Golang and familiarity with other backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, AWS).
- Experience managing microservice layers and API gateways.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience in media, streaming, or video platform technologies.
- Familiarity with mobile and living room client application ecosystems.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Located within the Pacific Time Zone.
