SUMMARY: This position takes a leadership role in financial duties associated with the Housing Authority. This position
will work to accomplish assigned tasks, ensure procedures are updated and work to develop others within the department. An
expert level knowledge of housing authority financial functions and their impacts will be required. This position will provide
in depth accounting, reporting and analysis in a fast paced, highly regulated and accuracy critical environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.

Perform accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to bank reconciliation and balance sheet
reconciliation;
Coordinate and complete month-end and year-end financial responsibilities;
Preparation of financial reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives;
Research and document financial related issues;
Support Public Housing and all their Accounting needs, tasks and reporting
Own Grant Accounting and associated cash management including requesting cash transfers and ensuring all grant
entries and filings are completed timely.
Timely completion of all Public Housing regulatory filings;
Lead internal and external audits including, but not limited to preparation of schedules and other data as necessary;
Prepare all financial data and enter into a prescribed Financial Data Schedule;
Compile and test final reports and general ledger data as requested or assigned;
Act as a liaison with financial institutions resolving various issues such as cleared check differences, bank fee
anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services;
Stay abreast of all industry guidelines as it relates to the financial operation and ensure understanding of others
within the agency;
Ensure all finance functions have accurate and updated standard operating procedures, making changes where
necessary;
Act as a mentor and a source of information for those with questions regarding functions of the finance department;
Lead and assist in projects as assigned;
Perform additional duties as assigned
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Senior Accountant role in other governmental or non-profit entity;
Great team player demonstrating patience, persistence and leadership;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Ability to multi-task and demonstrated success in high paced environment;
Experience in preparing financial projections, pro forma and related analysis;
Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) with demonstrated work experience;
Demonstrated ability to develop procedures and practices for increased efficiency while maintaining overall accuracy and
improving productivity among staff;
Demonstrated experience, comfort and skill in organizing and presenting financial information in understandable format;
and
Demonstrated experience working with financial software applications;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Above average functional capability with personal computers and associated related software;
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting;
Five (5) years of Accounting experience two (2) of which should be at Senior level;
CPA preferred;
