Job Details

We are looking for a motivated EDI Engineer with consumer goods or retail product industry experience paired with a background in enterprise EDI integration. This is a brand new role with a company growing rapidly through acquisition and product expansion.

This is a remote-based role that will require onsite attendance roughly once per quarter for company wide townhalls. Candidates MUST be within reasonable travel distance to the Greater Chicago area. Candidates outside of this range will not be considered.

As an EDI Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily health and long-term performance of our end-client s evolving EDI environment. Acting as a subject matter expert, you ll ensure seamless electronic data exchange with our business and 3PL partners, as well as support the growth of our trading network. This is a highly visible, full-time direct hire role with long term growth potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, optimize, monitor, and support inbound and outbound EDI activity while operating on a small lean team.
  • Analyze recurring EDI errors and drive strategic, long-term process improvements.
  • Work alongside an EDI Analyst so they can lead the onboarding of new trading partners, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure successful integration.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving EDI requirements and standards.
  • Provide oversight of EDI communication channels and integration platforms.
  • Support EDI connections with logistics partners and external service providers.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and scalability of EDI operations.

What You Will Bring:

  • Strong experience in EDI mapping, configuration, and process troubleshooting.
  • Deep understanding of EDI formats, transaction sets, and best practices.
  • Strong experience with EDI scripting (VB.NET, SQL, Java, or comparable language)
  • Must have strong experience with EDI and ERP integrations (Syspro, JD Edwards, Epicor, SAP, or similar)
  • Familiarity with integration protocols and communication methods used across the EDI landscape.
  • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Background working in or supporting supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
  • Experience working with EDI middleware, translators, or ERP-integrated solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Minimum of 5 years in an EDI-focused role, with increasing levels of responsibility.
