Senior Business Analyst / Test Automation Engineer (BA/QA)
Location: Hybrid – Alexandria (Old Town), VA (3 days onsite / week)
Type: Contract-to-Hire (6–8 months)
Rate: $60–$65/hour

Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst / Test Automation Engineer to support a high-impact federal program in a hybrid onsite capacity. This role requires a strong balance of requirements analysis, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on test automation within an Agile environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning requirements end-to-end while also designing and executing automated test scripts to ensure system quality and delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis (≈40%)
Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements
Create and maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams
Ensure requirements traceability throughout the SDLC
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives)
Test Automation & QA (≈60%)
Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts for functional and regression testing
Work with automation tools such as Selenium (primary); Cypress or Playwright acceptable
Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines
Identify, track, and document defects; collaborate with developers for timely resolution
Support testing best practices and continuous process improvements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (required)
7+ years of combined experience as a Business Analyst and Test Automation Engineer
Prior experience supporting federal/government programs
Strong hands-on experience with Selenium automation
Solid understanding of test automation frameworks, testing methodologies, and CI/CD
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
Proficiency with JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work onsite in Alexandria, VA 3 days per week
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Cypress or Playwright in addition to Selenium
Exposure to DevOps collaboration and pipeline optimization
Prior experience in contract-to-hire roles
