Job Title: Database Developer / Administrator
We are seeking a skilled Database Developer/Administrator to join our team. This hybrid role involves designing and developing database solutions while ensuring the performance, security, and availability of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will also have hands-on experience in data migration across heterogeneous database platforms, supporting seamless transitions during system upgrades or platform changes.Key Responsibilities

• Database Development & Design:
• Design, develop, and maintain database objects (tables, views, stored procedures, triggers).
• Collaborate with application developers to design and implement efficient database schemas.
• Write optimized SQL queries to support application and reporting needs.
• Database Administration & Maintenance:
• Install, configure, and maintain database servers for high performance and availability.
• Perform database patching, upgrades, and regular maintenance tasks.
• Monitor database performance and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
• Data Migration & Integration:
• Plan and execute data migration projects, including schema conversion, data transformation, and validation.
• Migrate data between heterogeneous platforms (e.g., Oracle to PostgreSQL, SQL Server to MySQL).
• Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes using tools or custom scripts.
• Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data transfer, mapping, and synchronization.
• Backup, Recovery & Security:
• Implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Enforce database security policies, access controls, and encryption standards.
• Collaboration & Support:
• Provide support to development teams and business users for database access and troubleshooting.
• Assist in integration and reporting initiatives that rely on clean, migrated data.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Hands-on experience in database migration projects, including planning, execution, and validation.
• Proficiency in one or more database platforms: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and normalization techniques.
• Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., Talend, SSIS, Informatica) and scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
• Ability to optimize queries and improve system performance.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for data-related issues.
• Knowledge of database security and compliance best practices.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams during migration initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in database development and administration.
• Proven experience in data migration between database platforms.
• Certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), or AWS Database Specialty are desirable.
